A new special license for mineral exploration was obtained in Erdeneburen Sum of Hovd Province.

In Erdeneburen Sum of Hovd Province, there are currently 2 exploration areas, 1 general exploitation area, 1 general exploration area, and a total of 5 special licenses.

Buyantstandard Co., Ltd. owns a special license for the exploitation of minerals with a common distribution numbered MV-84000037 named Ulaan Khavchi, and a special license for exploration of minerals with a common distribution numbered XV-84000034 named Khondloin Ar of Torgor Trade, respectively.

It also owns the special exploration licenses numbered XV-019009, named Erdene of Liteh Energy LLC.

Erdeneburen Sum of Hovd Province, the center of sum is 75 km from the center of the province and 1552 km from the capital. It has an area of 268.5 thousand hectares, of which 2431 hectares are cultivated and 273 hectares are hay fields. Its geographical location is 1182-4208 above sea level, which is part of the Great Lakes Depression region. It has a combination of high mountains and plains. The 4208-meter Tsambagarav mountain, one of the branch mountains of the Altai Mountains, has been made a state-protected complex by Decree No. 29 of 2000.

It is located in the northwestern part of Hovd province: 1461 km from Ulaanbaatar city and 61 km from the center of the province. The sum is bordered by Tolbo, Altantsogts, and Bayannuur sums of Bayan-olgii province in the north, Miangad sum of Hovd province by the Hovd River in the east, Buyant sum in the south, and Hovd sum in the west.

With dry, cool summers and harsh winters, the average temperature in January is -300 C, the average temperature in July is +250 C, the average annual wind speed is 4-6 m/s, and the total annual precipitation is 150-250 mm. In terms of climate, it belongs to a dry region with hot summers.

Sum has 631 households and a population of 2376, 89 percent of the population are Ulads, 11 percent are Kazakhs, and there are other tribes. The sum consists of 5 teams: the Har-Us team, the Bayangol team, the Namarjin team, the Hongiobag team, and the Shurag team. The central team of the sum is the Har-Us team.

The Erdeneburen hydropower plant will have a capacity of 90 MW and will produce 360 million kWh of energy per year. In addition to fully supplying energy to the western region, it will be possible to support the energy system of the central region. It is relatively developed compared to other cities in the western region due to the development of infrastructure such as energy, road transport, and communication. Now the sum has 19 km of paved roads, 17 km of clean water lines, 16 km of sewage lines, 28 km of communication lines, 50 km of power lines, 260 hectares of built-up area, and 21 hectares of asphalt concrete roads. Mobile phone and postal services have been introduced.
