The meeting of the Mongolia-France intergovernmental commission took place in Paris after 11 years. This year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The French side was led by Ms. Anne-Marie Decot, Secretary General of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, while the Mongolian side was headed by N.Uchral, the head of the Government Office. They reached mutual agreements on the following issues:
- They proposed to suspend the uranium project until an internationally accredited laboratory is established in Dornogovi province and reached mutual consent on this matter.
- The uranium project was suspended until it is possible to analyze the risks to people, livestock, animals, and the environment at a global level in their local context.
- Citizens will form a monitoring council. An independent council will establish civic oversight, create conditions for transparency, and ensure the public’s right to know.
- The two countries will deepen and expand cooperation in emergency helicopter assistance, technical equipment, diversification of energy sources, and educational and cultural collaboration.
- In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Mongolia and France, joint events and a series of activities in education and culture will be organized.
