In the first four days of July, 700 thousand tons of mining products were traded. In the first half of this year, only a third of the products listed on the Mining Exchange were successfully traded. Specifically, out of a total of 16.2 million tons of mining products listed on the Exchange, 5.3 million tons were successfully traded. Due to the weakening of trading activity in March, the authorities opened the possibility of re-trading coal forward contracts. As a result, the trading volume in April increased dramatically, and a total of more than 2 million tons of products were purchased. However, the trend of decreasing activity resumed in the last two months. For example, in May, out of 80 auctions held, only 19 received offers to buy.
According to the trading data, Erdenes Critical Minerals’ iron ore, Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi and Tavan Tolgoi JSC’s coal trading was successful. As a result, 700 thousand tons of mining products were traded in the first four days of July, exceeding the total trading volume of the previous two months.
