The Minister of Mongolia, S.Byambatsogt, the Director of the Government’s Secretariat, S.Narantsogt, and representatives of the Board of Directors of Erdenes Mongolia visited the ‘Darkhan Metallurgical Plant’ LLC on August 21, 2025. At the beginning of the meeting, they received general information about the operations of ‘Darkhan Metallurgical Plant’ LLC and were introduced to the progress of the comprehensive project for the iron processing plant, one of the 14 mega projects of the government.
In the first half of 2025, this factory achieved a net profit of 36.7 billion tugriks after taxes, and contributed 51.7 billion tugriks in taxes, fees, and charges to the national and local budgets, fully meeting its target indicators. With 1,550 employees, the factory has increased the export of iron concentrate by 530,000 tons compared to the same period last year, and its sales revenue reached 285 billion tugriks.
The capacity to melt 120 thousand tons of scrap metal and produce 100 thousand tons of steel products per year. The “Erdenes Mongol” group has achieved these positive indicators by fulfilling its mandate to increase sales through making the trading of mining products on the exchange open and transparent, addressing infrastructure issues that had hindered product transportation, and working towards building foreign currency reserves.
During this time, the head of the Government’s Secretariat S. Byaambatsogt mentioned that the sales revenue, net profit, and productivity of the employees of the ‘Darkhan Metallurgical Plant’ LLC have improved, and he gave tasks to double the production of steel products, enhance the profitability of the wet processing plant, increase revenue while reducing costs, and make procurement more transparent.
