As part of the cooperation between the governments of Mongolia and the Republic of Korea, the ‘Mongolia-Korea Joint Rare Metals Research Center

Project,’ which is being implemented with the non-repayable aid of the Government of the Republic of Korea, began in 2023, and today, on December 12, 2025, it has been fully completed and inaugurated.
The project was executed by the research team of the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) together with Mongolia’s Geological Survey Center, working jointly to complete the full preparation of the facility.
This research center was established under the Geological Research and Development Center LLC to jointly study technologies for processing rare earth elements and rare metal ores, localize advanced Korean processing technologies, strengthen human resource capabilities, expand cooperation between enterprises of both countries, promote innovation and technology exchange, and open new opportunities for research and development, which is of great significance.
